Dr. Karri’s Story

the journey from athlete to business owner

As a Colorado Native, Karri’s love for movement started at a young age when she was strapped into her first pair of skis, tossed onto the bike, or thrown out on the soccer field. Growing up, she wanted to play every sport possible and ultimately fell in love with soccer and cheerleading. Throughout high school she played both competitively and for Valor Christian. Some days she would go to three practices in a row. So it’s safe to say she had her fair share of injuries. One very specific cheer injury led her to discover the world of physical therapy. Unfortunately, the injury was so specific to cheerleading that she never fully recovered because she never received the care she needed. However, that frustration of desiring better PT care standards for ALL athletes alike, ultimately led her to pursue a doctoral degree in physical therapy.

Alongside her journey to becoming a physical therapist she was also in the midst of a personal battle – watching her mom fight breast cancer. Because of this situation, she started to develop a strong passion for integrative medicine and whole mind, body & spiritual care. This took her down a deep path to pursue ways that she could optimize her health and enhance her quality of life all while passing along her findings to help other people.

Out of these things – and some timing intervention from the Lord – West & Well was born! Her desire for West & Well was to create a type of clinic that didn’t exist. She wanted to make physical therapy/rehab/recovery fun and exciting and something to look forward to. She also saw a huge need for sport-specific care for cheerleaders and dancers. She experienced first hand how important it is to have a provider that knows the demands of the sport and can relate on a personal level.

Aside from physical therapy, she also wanted to incorporate her passion for overall wellness and holistic health into West & Well. She has noticed a trend in recent years of people actually getting excited about taking care of themselves and she wants to ensure they have the best tools and resources to do so. She believes health and vitality is so much more than just physical performance alone and that it is necessary to take a holistic approach when it comes to wellness.

Though Dr. Karri’s mom is with Jesus now, she knows she would have told her to pursue her dream with all her heart. Which is why West & Well’s goal is to make you feel healthy & whole!

  • KIND WORDS FROM PAST PATIENTS

“About a month ago I was doing a workout when I accidentally tweaked my back, and it wasn’t long before it was painful to get up from a seat or walk around. Thankfully I was able to make an appointment with Dr. Karri the next day. She placed three dry needles into my back and it was like magic! After the session, I could move around pain-free and was even back to working out in two days. It was AMAZING. I never thought dry-needling could make such a difference.” – Erin W.
